This is the home of the World Fantasy Convention for 2018. Although the convention is still months away, we are excited about our guests, our venue and our themes, and working hard to make this a rewarding experience for all attendees.

We have a great venue, the Marriott Renaissance in downtown Baltimore. The hotel is across the street from Harborplace, one of the city’s major tourist attractions. The National Aquarium is a block away. Many other landmarks and places of interest can be found nearby.

Our Guests

We are thrilled to have a wonderful slate of Guests — Kaaron Warren, Scott Edelman, Tom Kidd, Michael J. Walsh, Aliette de Bodard and Linda D. Addison — who represent the best in today’s fantasy and horror genres. We look forward to celebrating their work in our program, displays, and events.

Thank you for your interest. We hope to see you in Baltimore in 2018!

Ports in a Storm

During a major storm, there is no better place to be than a good port. In keeping with our location in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, WFC2018 plans to explore all forms of safe havens. From churches to oases and ports, sanctuaries for the body and refuges for the spirit, no place offering respite to the characters in our favorite fantasy, horror, and weird tales will be ignored-including the bars. (WFC is a writers’ convention in a port city. We can’t forget the bars.)

Celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Frankenstein

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus,, was first published in 1818. Two hundred years later, it remains a potent myth, metaphor and influence on writers, artists and filmmakers. WFC2018 plans to pay tribute to this iconic story through discussions of the tale’s impact and derivative works.
